A deal for Portuguese international and Benfica defender is unlikely to happen for the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United this window.
In recent weeks, it has been reported that Manchester United are interested in the player and have scouted Antonio Silva, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It has also been acknowledged that Chelsea too, are interested in the young player.
Whilst Silva appears a great talent, it’s unsurprising that he may be linked with elite sides, more specifically teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United who have a strong history with Portuguese talent.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, he has said that Benfica do not want to sell the 20-year-old in this window.
“A deal that probably won’t be happening this January, however, is one for Antonio Silva.” he continues.
“Despite latest rumours about Chelsea, I’m hearing no updates so far and all sources expect any deal to be more than difficult in January as Benfica don’t want to sell him,” Romano explained.
“Manchester United have scouted him multiple times and he remains one of the players they like but not for now, he’s probably going to be too expensive in January.”
Whilst it appears true that neither club would be able to afford the young talent, it’s safe to say that both sides will continue to scout him with an eye to a summer transfer.
