It’s no secret that loan spells haven’t exactly worked out for Chelsea this season.

Player’s such as Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei were recalled early from their respective loan spells for a few reasons.

One player in particular began his spell at Real Madrid rather well, but has since taken a nose dive in recent months.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was loaned out to the La Liga leaders with the intentions of temporarily replacing an injured Thibaut Courtois.

Since his arrival back in August of 2023, only a couple of weeks in, Kepa was making it clear that he intended to stay at the Spanish giants past his one year loan.

However, having only played 12 games in the league, the Spanish international last appeared back in January in their home victory against Almeria after a comeback from 2-0 down.

Reports now coming out suggest that, despite Kepa’s wishes to stay, it would appear that Real Madrid do not wish to extend his stay past the end of the 23/24 season.

Sport Witness have said that “Kepa’s future is a mystery” but his “situation has changed radically”.

When he returns “reports in England have indicated Chelsea don’t want him either and will instead put the goalkeeper on the market.”

What is next for Kepa in a season of Euro’s competition this summer?
