Happy New Year and welcome to 2024. January is statistically known as the most down month of the year but transfers can factor into being a massive distraction.
The Byline will be bringing you up to date information, opinions and overall breakdown of both incomings and outgoings at Stamford Bridge this month.
When does the window open?
The transfer window officially opened at 12am on January 1st 2024 in the United Kingdom.
When does the window close?
The transfer window officially closes on Thursday February 1st at 11pm in the United Kingdom and in Spain. The same applies to the Bundesliga and Serie A, but earlier in the day.
Who could leave Stamford Bridge?
Not many groundbreaking departures are expected to happen this month but the future of Conor Gallagher does remain up in the air as he enters the final 18 months of his contract.
Ian Maatsen, Malang Sarr, Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah are all ones to watch as the window passes.
Can Chelsea loan any players?
Currently the clubs foreign loan slots, a rule implemented by FIFA are full. The only way to release loan slots of non homegrown players is to recall them back to the club.
One player who is having a tough time is Andrey Santos at Nottingham Forest. It is expected that he will be recalled but in order for him to join a club like Strasbourg, someone would have to come back.
With Kepa, Ziyech, Lukaku occupying just some of these slots, potential risks are involved.
