December is still a few days away but January’s transfer plans are starting to emerge and its good news for those who love transfer season as it looks like Chelsea are ready to dip into the market once again.
With Chelsea’s spending already hitting the £1bn mark (including add ons) in the Boehly/Clearlake era it seems like the spending isn’t stopping anytime soon.
Just yesterday, it was rumoured that the clubs number one transfer target was Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen but further extended reports seem to think it could be in multiple areas. With Chelsea having depth in all areas of the picth, surely this means departures are inevitable?
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are looking at making two or three incomings in January to further boost Pochettino’s squad. But there is a catch, in order to make these incomings a possibility the club will have to adopt a one in, one out policy to keep the numbers balanced.
In terms of cashing in on potential stars, Chelsea do have a lot of value amongst those who have seen game time severely limited. The likes of Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah seem to be outsiders looking whilst Conor Gallagher’s contract situation is looking tense. Maatsen and Gallagher are in contract until June 2025 along with Malang Sarr.
One of the new ownerships policies was to never let a player head into the final 2 years of contact but it seems like there’s a new saga just around the corner given that policy usually means a sale if new terms can’t be agreed.
