With under two weeks until the January transfer window officially opens, news is beginning to heat up.
Following Chelsea’s penalty shootout victory against Newcastle on Tuesday night, the cameras were on co-owner, Behdad Eghbali.
In the box was wonder-kid, Kendry Paez who will join the blues in 2025. But there was also one other name in the box which didn’t go unnoticed.
Also in the box was 17 year old midfielder, Pape Daouda Diong.
Speculation grew on Twitter/X as to why Diong was in the directors box, we may have our answer.
The Athletic are reporting that Chelsea are in fact close to agreeing a deal for the Senegalese midfielder.
Due to FIFA rules, if you aren’t a homegrown player you cannot move internationally until you turn 18. That means if any transfer takes place it won’t be until the summer of 2024.
No specific fee has been reported as of yet.
🚨 Potentially an incoming signing, one of my followers tells me this is
Pape Daouda Diongue, who was with Egbhali and Paez, 17 year old defensive midfielder from Senegal. Apparently a big prospect. #CFC pic.twitter.com/ZRfue6YuWB
