On this day one year ago…
The revamp of the current Chelsea squad took a big step on this day one year ago. Chelsea confirmed the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for a total package of around £88.5m (add ons included).
Mudryk’s first 12 month perhaps wouldn’t have gone as he had hoped but his career has fully gone in the right direction in the past three months.
The Ukrainian international scored his first Premier League goal for the blues back in October in the 2-0 win over Fulham. Less than three weeks later the winger scored against Arsenal in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
December was perhaps Mudryk’s biggest month in a Chelsea shirt. The month started with him winning the decisive penalty in the 3-2 victory over Brighton and just a few days later picked up an assist in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
Just before Christmas, Mudryk’s biggest moment in a Chelsea shirt occurred as the winger came off the bench against Newcastle to change the game fully, scoring a last minute equaliser and then slotting his penalty home to book the blues a place in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Mudryk’s latest contribution was a goal in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on December 27th. It’s taking time but Mudryk is certainly growing in a Chelsea shirt.
