The window might have quietly shut just over 24 hours ago but that hasn’t stopped a hint of transfer regret.
In the second part of Pochettino’s pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Wolves, the Chelsea boss told the press he doesn’t believe he has a set piece specialist within the club.
Pochettino admitted his side don’t have a dead ball specialist and claimed just one player has a good delivery.
He told the press (via Standard), “It is about the takers. We don’t have a specialist. Maybe Chilly is good in the delivery, but we don’t have a specialist after that.”
Pochettino compared the situation to London rivals West Ham, James Ward-Prowse in particular. He told journalists at Cobham;
“For sure, you can work, like West Ham were working. But now, you add a player like him [Ward-Prowse], you increase the percentage. That is football. Football belongs to the players. Not to the specialists.”
Chelsea will be hoping to put their fragilities behind them as the blues host a resilient Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
