Pochettino looked very animated during the first half of yesterday’s 4-0 victory over Preston.

With the scoreline goalless at half-time Pochettino sent a strong message to his players which saw the home side respond with four goals in 45 minutes.

After the game, Pochettino warned his players that a similar display in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg could have consequences. He told the media (via Daily Mail),

“This is a great example that we need to respect all opponents. If we go to Middlesbrough and start the game like that, it is going to be more difficult.”

Pochettino continued, “We need to show the right attitude. It’s about matching the aggression. That disappointed me but the players were also disappointed at half-time and the attitude was different in the second half.”

Pochettino has sent a message to his players despite his team performing in the 2nd half and you can tell he is worried about the inconsistency kicking back in.
