Chelsea travel to Middlesbrough tonight in the 1st leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final with a place at Wembley at stake.

Ahead of the game Cole Palmer has been speaking to Sky Sports and was once again asked about his summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Palmer told Sky, “My thing was to never leave City. That was not my intention. I wanted to go on loan for a year, come back and be ready for the first team. But they [City] said I couldn’t go on loan, either stay or you get sold.

So then, Chelsea rang me. I said I wanted to go to Chelsea and I’m really happy to be here. I’m very glad I made the decision to come here.”

Palmer’s impact at Stamford Bridge seen him go down as one of the best signings under the new ownership with the former City man scoring 8 goals in the Premier League already this season.
