Following Wednesday’s victory over Crystal Palace, both managers have had their say on what originally looked like a certain penalty. The Crystal Palace boss, Roy Hodgson disagrees.
After the game he told Prime Video, via Ben Jacobs, “We have to accept these days as coaches there are two referees. The one who is on the field doesn’t have as much to say as the one sitting in the studio… We lost 2-1 because there was a controversial penalty six or seven minutes before the end at a moment when we were looking every bit as likely to score the winning goal as Chelsea.”
Given Crystal Palace were rescued by the referee ‘in the studio’ originally as Jackson was deemed offside it does seem a bit contradicting given no neutral has argued with the verdict. Madueke and Chelsea won’t care as the blues reclaim 10th spot in the Premier League at the half way stage of the season.
Next up for Chelsea is an early kick off clash against Luton Town, the blues won the corresponding fixture 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
