Yesterday afternoon Senegal booked their spot in the knockout stages of the 2023 African Cup of Nations following a 3-1 victory over Cameroon.
Following Senegal’s progression to the last 16, this has resulted in Jackson being at the tournament for a longer period of time and will now miss more matches for the blues.
Jackson isn’t seen as a starter for Senegal which comes as a blow for Chelsea who could really do with his services right now as the blues face an important week of cup action.
If Senegal where to maintain top spot in the group, the round of 16 match will take place on Monday 29th January with the potential quarter-final taking place on the Saturday.
Due to Senegal’s progression, Jackson will now miss Middlesbrough (H), Aston Villa (H), Liverpool (A).
If Senegal were to reach the quarter-finals then Jackson would also miss the Wolves clash at the beginning of February. If he progresses beyond that point he could still be absent for a few more matches yet.
