Over the summer the revolving door at the training ground didn’t stop, with numerous incomings and outgoings there were many new faces at Cobham. One being France international Malo Gusto, who joined from Lyon back in January but had his move finalised in the summer.
With Azpilicueta departing over the summer to head back to Spain, getting a replacement was vital given the injury history with Reece James. Gusto has already shown how important he will be to this Chelsea side having already made 9 appearances.
Gusto sat down recently with the club media to discuss his move to Chelsea whilst highlighting his admiration for the club whilst growing up.
Gusto told Chelsea FC what clubs he watched growing up and he replied, “To be honest, when I was younger I used to watch Chelsea games with my dad. So to be here now is a pleasure. It’s great.”
Whilst highlighting Chelsea during his childhood, Gusto also revealed which legend had a massive influence on him saying, “I’ve got a lot of memories of Chelsea. The Drogba period had a big influence on me as a kid, and, more recently, I remember watching the Champions League win in 2021.”
During the 2012 Champions League run Didier Drogba was pivotal for Chelsea but one game caught Malo’s eye the most, “I think back to watching the big matches against Barcelona, especially the famous one in 2012. I hope now that Chelsea can continue to be such a big club going forward.”
Gusto will be hoping to be part of some more historic nights at Stamford Bridge as time goes on. If he goes the same was as Azpilicueta, he is bound to be a hit with the supporters.
