Ben Chilwell spoke to Chelsea’s in house media after the 1-0 victory over Fulham.
As the clubs vice-captain, Chilwell has taken on added responsibility with the club looking out for experience. The England international has once again suffered with an injury hit campaign.
Chilwell’s season came to a stop following Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup where the defender was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Between the Brighton game and his return to action on Saturday, Chilwell has missed a total of 18 matches across all competitions.
With the defender getting to full fitness and Nkunku hoping for a return in the near future, the season still remains in a competitive situation.
Chilwell believes some momentum is kicking into the blues, he told the club website, “I think we are starting to turn a corner a little bit now.
We’re eight unbeaten at the Bridge now and beating Fulham, in a local derby, gives us real momentum ahead of a big game against Middlesbrough the cup semi-final.”
Chilwell added how much the fans will play a part in the next week to ten days, he said, “I’m sure the fans will be right behind us as they always are and it’s a big opportunity for us to create another special night under the lights at Stamford Bridge.”
Chelsea face Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge a week today and then will host Aston Villa on the Friday.
