Chelsea have won back to back Premier League games at home for the first time since October 2022. Victory over Sheffield United has moved the blues back into the top of the table, albeit for a limited time potentially.
Goals from Palmer and Jackson were enough for the hosts to comfortably beat a woeful Sheffield United.
Chelsea were made to work for the victory as you expect in the Premier League but the first half performance will have cause for concern in the debrief.
Pochettino’s message at half time certainly got out to the players as the home side came straight out of the firing blocks. A well worked goal to kick matters off with Palmer getting on the end of a Raheem Sterling cross.
Seven minutes later Chelsea found themselves 2-0 up in strange circumstances, Palmer sent the ball across the six yard box for Jackson to tap in but the players had to wait for referee approval due to possible VAR intervention.
Overall a comfortable afternoon for Chelsea in what was a non negotiable must win for the blues.
Chelsea are back at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup with the next league match coming next week in Wolverhampton.
