Despite pre-season still being seven months away, plans for this summers tour are already taking place.
Since travel restrictions were lifted following the pandemic, Chelsea have been to the United States in 2022, 2023 and now 2024 looks to mark a third successive year. With Chelsea being involved in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup that will mark a fourth successive year in the United States.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea will be heading to the United States this summer in preparation for the 24/25 Premier League. The blues are also in talks with Manchester City to play a match against each other.
Back in July, Chelsea participated in the inaugural ‘Premier League Summer Series’ which saw Pochettino win the competition against the likes of Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa and Fulham.
According to The Athletic, a 2nd edition of the tournament will not take place in the USA. One of the reasons The Athletic state is the clubs believe they can earn more by hosting themselves rather than the Premier League selling it as a package.
From a supporters point of view the Premier League branded tournament was a good competitive tournament to get teams ready for the season and didn’t schedule fixtures across the States, which was a genuine known issue back in 2022.
Chelsea’s match against Wrexham was part of the FC Series whilst Chelsea vs Dortmund in Chicago was hosted internally.
