Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Fulham marked the start of the 2024 winter break.
Following on from its implementation back in 2020, the winter break sees one match week split in half to allow teams a break from Premier League action. With the blues playing last Saturday that means we won’t be in action until our Carabao Cup semi-final on January 23rd.
Chelsea insider, Nathan Gissing has confirmed the blues will return to training on Wednesday. That leaves Pochettino six full days of preparation whilst Tuesday’s visitors play on Saturday at home to Rotherham.
Pochettino confirmed in his post match press conference on Saturday referencing the break. He told the media (via chelseafc.com), “I think they need these three days off to breathe a little. Then we can attack the second half of the season.”
Chelsea fans will be hoping the break will benefit the blues ahead of a must win next week.
