“Embarrassing and spineless” – Player ratings: Sheffield United 2-2 Chelsea

Chelsea certainly know how to remove the highs from the smash and grab seen on Thursday to the spineless and cowardly display seen on Sunday.

Pochettino is out of his depth, the players don’t hold a degree of accountability but the most damning discovery is Chelsea do not have an identity under Mauricio Pochettino.

There was a claim and valid reasoning that Chelsea were building something with the draw to Liverpool, narrow defeat to West Ham, a handful of chances fumbled in the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest and a VAR influenced result against Aston Villa but the downturn in form after the November international break needs to be studied.

Since that day Chelsea have been humiliated at St James’ Park, Old Trafford, Goodison Park, Molineux, Riverside, Anfield. That is just the away games, add in the humiliating defeat to Wolves and suffering two 2-2 draws in a week to both Sheffield United and Burnley. There has to be some accountability on the coach.

Here are my embarrassing set of player ratings:

Petrovic- 4

Disasi- 4

Silva- 5.5

Chalobah- 4

Cucurella- 5

Enzo- 4

Caicedo- 4

Gallagher- 4.5 (Only gets .5 because of the assist)

Palmer- 6

Jackson- 4.5

Madueke- 5.5

Let’s not get it twisted, the majority of the poor performances is on lack of structure, identity and a system that fails to accommodate the midfield and defence.

Attacking in games shouldn’t be scrutinised but failing to take a grip on the game for a third time in a week is just not good enough.
