Chelsea bounced back from last weeks disappointment at the Emirates to go 3 points clear at the top of the WSL after beating Bristol City 3-0 at Ashton Gate.

With Arsenal losing 1-0 to Tottenham, Chelsea had the perfect game to bounce back and certainly put last weeks errors, to right this time around.

Lauren James opened up the scoring with a fantastic strike to take her tally up to 5 goals in all competitions. Less than 20 minutes later Chelsea found themselves 2-0 up with Erin Cuthbert getting on the scoresheet. Sam Kerr made sure the game was over on the hour mark to make it three.

Overall a very comfortable afternoon for Emma Hayes and Chelsea who regain a 3 point lead at the top of the Women’s Super League (WSL). The game did end on a disappointing note as Niamh Charles was sent off for a 2nd yellow card.

Today’s victory once again means Chelsea will sit at the top of the table heading into 2024.

The WSL is now on break until January 21st when Chelsea take on Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, but blues are still in Champions League action as we travel to Sweden to take on Häcken.

Check out Lauren James’ wonder strike as her goal put Chelsea 1-0 up!
